In Shop of Mystery, the radio section that I take care in January we aired on Puntoradio, based on the theme of the episode we speak, in the first part , history, traditions and mysteries of our earth. The second part is dedicated to a song that becomes an opportunity to talk about stories curious, mysterious and sometimes disturbing connected to it.
So hold on a little secret well hidden on the bottom of the drawer. How compromising secrets or maybe a gun to defend yourself, but this is not enough to save police and write yours is just another murder.
Springteeen In 1982 Bruce recorded a song that would have given the title track he was working. It was a song about violence and how this was so ingrained in American society to be regarded as mere numbers in the murders of crime statistics.
Mysteriously, however, the song at the end was not included album. Maybe the Boss seemed too hard for an album that you wanted to go to a wide audience, after the mediocre success of the previous album, Nebraska, critically acclaimed, but with disappointing sales results.
The album was released in 1984 under the title Born in the USA and was first in the charts for 85 weeks. The tribute to the American working class, represented by red hat tucked into jeans Boss constituted one of the iconic images of the eighties.
Although he performed in concert many times excluded from the song Born in the USA, until 1994 it was remixed in 1995 and published in Greatest Hits.
Its title was taken from a film of 1960, Syndicate Assassins, starring Peter Falk that time, not even dressed the role of Columbo.
The film was inspired by a true story and now become a legend of the black American crime. At the beginning of the twentieth century the city of New York was fought over by three trained criminal organizations. The Italian Mafia was confronted street by street with the Mafia with Irish and Jewish.
To consolidate the precarious balance achieved between the twenties and forties in Brownsville, in those years, the most degraded and violent ghetto of Brooklyn, was recruited, organized, and salaried a group of killers paid. Over the years, this first group was reinforced by other murderers pay Italians, Irish and Jews hailing from the Bronx, to Brooklyn, from East New York, Ocean Hill and other slums in New York.
The assassins were employed by the National Crime Syndicate and were paid a minimum of $ 1,000 to a maximum of 5000 for each murder. Even their families received some sort of salary in case of arrest and the boss were to provide for the payment of legal fees.
In the forties the organization, which is estimated to have performed more than 1000 murders in the United States, was hit hard the arrest and conviction of many of its members who began to cooperate.
However the outbreak of war and the secret alliance between Cosa Nostra and the American government in the forties meant that most of the surviving members of the Organization to escape justice ia.
